Abstract
This paper explored the influences of mother attachment, rejection sensitivity, and emotional regulation on peer relationships among fifth to sixth graders. To collect data, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 483 children consisting of fifth and sixth graders in Incheon, Korea. Data was processed by SPSS WIN 15.0 and AMOS 7.0. Correlation analysis and Path analysis were conducted. Major findings were summarized as follows. First, the hypothetical model was found to be valid concerning the relationships of peer relationships with mother attachment, rejection sensitivity, and emotional regulation and the paths were all significant. Second, the mediating effects of both rejection sensitivity and emotional regulation were found to be significant in the association between mother attachment and peer relationships. The present study, in response to the scant research dealing with rejection sensitivity and emotional regulation among elementary school children, examined how the variables involving experiences of psychological discomforts are related to peer relationships and verified for the existence of close relations among the variables.
